About this Session

Leaving the public school system and entering the world of homeschooling can be a tricky journey.

While the freedoms and possibilities of homeschooling feel endless they can also be overwhelming. Rigid expectations and requirements have been drilled into us after years in the public school system and it can be hard to break free from those ideals.

I'm a former public school teacher and the daughter of a school teacher. I have spent a majority of my childhood and adult years in a classroom either learning, teaching, or preparing. I never imagined my own kids not having that same public school experience. The ideals of the public school run deep. Leaving all of that behind can be tough.

Let's chat about some ways in which we can make the transition from public school to homeschool easier.

-Acknowledge that by choosing homeschooling for our kids we are choosing a different path. Different is good!

-Our kids will have a unique set of experiences, that have their own advantages and disadvantages.

-Spend some time on your "why." Why did you choose to homeschool? Knowing why you are homeschooling can help you create learning opportunities that match that why!

-Every homeschool family will look different. There is no one "right" answer to homeschooling

.-Embrace the freedom to create a learning path that is right for your child!

-Being a working/ homeschooling mom has unique challenges. Make the public school exit/ homeschool entry work for your work!
